Wendy Eson

IBCLC, CEIM

Breastfeeding Center Manager

Wendy began her journey helping women and their families in 1999 when she trained as a birth doula in Washington State. She came to her new career path after experiencing firsthand with her second and third baby how a doula can help families with pregnancy, birth, and beyond. This new career was a big departure from her previous one, where she had earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and subsequently worked as a newspaper reporter covering stories in rural southeastern Ohio.

In 2002, after the birth of their third child, Wendy and her husband Dave moved back to Pittsburgh from Tacoma, WA.  After returning to Pittsburgh, Wendy worked as a birth doula and childbirth educator. While teaching childbirth education classes for West Penn Hospital, she became interested in broadening her knowledge and decided to pursue certification in the field of lactation, thanks in large part to her wonderful mentors at West Penn who encouraged her. She has been board certified since 2011 and with the Breastfeeding Center of Pittsburgh since 2012. In 2018, Wendy became a Certified Educator in Infant Massage.

Wendy’s off-hour pursuits include spending time with her family, hiking, gardening, and basically any chance she gets to be outdoors.
