LC School

If you want to become a board-certified Lactation Consultant and have completed your 95 hours of lactation-specific education, our training program is for you.

The Breastfeeding Center of Pittsburgh LC School is tailored for applicants seeking certification by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners through Pathway 3.

This program is structured to provide the minimum of 500 hours of clinical practice in lactation, supervised by our wonderful team of International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs). Upon successful completion of the program, participants will have obtained the knowledge, clinical skills, and training required to be eligible to sit for the IBCLE exam.

Students will initially spend time observing IBCLC mentors during mother/baby patient care. After a period of observation, students progress to “hands-on” work while being directly supervised by a Lactation Consultant. Observation and supervision will occur at all three of our office locations.

The cost of the program is approximately $5,200 and can take 6-9  months to complete depending upon your schedule.
