We’re pleased to offer some breastfeeding support services through telemedicine. Just connect from home with a computer, smart phone, or tablet.
While a virtual visit doesn’t replace in-person breastfeeding observation, it can be beneficial for families who are unable to travel to the office for a variety of reasons, or prefer the convenience and privacy of being at home.
You’ll virtually connect with one of our International Board Certified Lactation Consultants via HIPAA-compliant video conferencing. The IBCLC can help by observing baby latch and provide tips for optimal positioning at the breast.
If you have concerns about how baby is feeding at the breast, questions about milk supply, and/or questions about using your breast pump, we can address those issues through our virtual lactation visits.
Virtual visits last 60 minutes and cost $50.
Please note: virtual visits are not covered by insurance and do not include time with a medical provider.
During a virtual visit, there may be situations when the IBCLC determines that the parent/baby would benefit from being seen in the office, which includes an exam by one of our medical providers. In office visits are billed to the patient’s insurance. For insurance questions, please see our FAQ page.
If you’d like to schedule a Virtual Lacation Visit with the Breastfeeding Center of Pittsburgh, or if you’d just like to know more, please give us a call at 412-246-4726. We’ll be happy to talk to you, and to determine the best fit for you and your baby.
